The Prime-Minister Impeaches Membership of Russia in Power Charter

The prime minister of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin declares that Russia does not see any sense even in retain of the signature of the country under the power charter.
«The power charter which in due time was signed and has not been ratified till now by the Russian side, has not played the role in the proper way. Today we can tell unequivocally: any sense is not found even in retain of our signature under this document», - has declared. Mr. Putin during final negotiations with the prime minister of Bulgaria Mr. Sergey Stanishev in Moscow.
The international Power charter was developed and accepted by the EU countries in the beginning of 1990th. In particular, it assumed an free approach of the European countries to the Russian resources and pipelines, while Europe was closed for the Russian power investments.
In April, 2009 the Russian management has published the project of the document on the international power cooperation which could replace the Power charter partly or totally. However in the European countries the given offers have not caused significant interest.
