Russians Discuss Crunch Rather Actively Than Europeans and Americans

The All-Russia public opinion research center (VCIOM) together with Ciao Surveys-Greenfield online-Company have carried out full-scale study devoted to how Russians, Europeans and Americans estimate the present economic situation , what is in their opinion, the reasons of crisis and that do they think about the contra measures of the governments in the given countries.

The survey has revealed, that most actively the subject matter of crisis is discussed in Russia - 97 % participate in such conversations (in Germany - 85 %, in the Great Britain and Poland - 82 %, Americans are least tended towards discussing an economic situation- 80 %). Poles more often inform others, that though such discussions are conducted, they do not participate in them (11 %). British and Americans are most tendered to mark, that there do not talk about crisis among their environment (11 %). In Russia totally workers (100 %) discuss subject matter of crisis. Office stuff, top managers and executives are also engaged (92-95 %). In Poland, in the Great Britain and in the USA an economic situation is rather discussed among top-managers (90-91 %).

Pessimistic forecasts about the terms of crisis will be long lasting, are least characterize Poles (51 %) and Russians (63 %). On the contrary, the opinion that crisis is a long-term process, a soon recovery shouldn’t be expected, is most typical for inhabitants of Germany (82 %), the Great Britain (81 %), the USA (76 %).

Russians, Europeans and Americans ambiguously estimate the reasons of crisis. Both in Russia, and in Germany, the main reason of crisis is named the inefficient policy of monetary authorities of the USA on regulation of the financial markets (62 % and 57 % accordingly), and also short-sighted financial strategy of management of banks (55 %, also British are most tendered to specify the same reason - 57 %). In respondents’ opinion (in the Great Britain, the USA and Poland) not the least role plays inefficient government policy on regulation of the financial markets: so believe 56 % of British, 53 % of Americans and 42 % of Poles (in Russia and Germany - 38 % and 31 % accordingly). Besides Germans are most tendered to point on the incompetence of the international financial organizations (43 % against 27-31 % among other respondents), Poles - on absence of skills of long-term scheduling and an assessment of risks among people who have taken bank credits (36 %), Americans - on a huge expenses of the states for conducting military actions in hot points (28 %).

Online-polling was conducted by “Ciao Surveys-Greenfield online-Compan “in March, 2009.  500 person were interviewed in each of five countries: the USA, the Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Poland.
