The Bank of Russia Will Update the Russian Banknotes

The bank of Russia together with”Goznak” is working on updating of the full line of the Russian banknotes, however it does not mean replacement of money in circulation. As the first vice-president of Bank of Russia, Mr. George Luntovsky has informed « the world practice assume updating pertinently if carried out timely in 5-6 years to protect money from counterfeiters ».
According to Mr. Luntovsky, « During the last year the number of counterfeit signs has increased almost up to 23 percent », and the most forged denomination is a thousand rubles.
At the same time, the volume of foreign currency fakes since 2006 constantly has been decreasing , and now the share of foreign currency counterfeit in the total number of counterfeit banknotes is insignificant — only 4 percent. « And it is clear, since we have rubles in circulation,”- the vice-president told.
However, Mr. Luntovsky assumed the presence in circulation so-called "superdollars", « lifelike the originals ». « Unfortunately, there are not many devices which can distinguish them », — He said. The vice-president of the Central Bank has also informed about the significant growth of demand on gold coins in Russia. « There is a known investment coin « George Pobedonosets ».
